Twin Sibling Duo KTJ & CARLY Release “Ego Death” EP – Share Insights & Stories to Favorite Tracks.

Today marks the release of Ego Death – the latest project from the pop and twin sibling duo KTJ & CARLY. Featuring five songs including “Daddy’s Little Lawyer” and “Pink Ferrari” the sisters show a maturity of growth both sonically and their ability to story tell since their release of their debut project Identity back in 2020. All Access got the exclusive insight to the two’s favorite songs off the latest project as well as stories behind the inspiration for much of the EP. Check out their responses below and do yourself – and your ears – a favor and dive head first into Ego Death.

KTJ:

“I don’t necessarily have a favorite, but if I had to choose it would be ‘Pink Ferrari’ or ‘Heartless.’ I love ‘Daddy’s Little Lawyer’ because of the punk vibes, and ‘Heartless’ because it sticks it to the man. ‘Pink Ferrari’ and ‘Signing off’ were so great to write, and they remind me that it’s okay to not be a perfect human being as long as I’m a decent one with respect. Therefore, I would say ‘Pink Ferrari’ is my favorite and I give ‘Heartless’ and ‘Signing Off’ honorable mentions.”

CARLY:

“My favorite song off of the EP is ‘signing off.’ Not because of the musicality, but because of the lyrics. Reaching a mental AND physical limit. Everyone now on social media seems to be doing everything and having their life together, effortlessly nonetheless. It just feels impossible to keep up with most of the time. The planet of social media expects us to be beautiful, successful, sociable, with good fashion, fun lifestyle, have a literal perfect life!

Even though it sounds too good to be true, it’s still difficult to grasp that almost all of it is not 100% authentic. Everyone is going through SOMETHING. So to make up for it, it’s easy to over work ourselves to keep up with the idea of a this life that can be envied. But when we do that, it ends up being detrimental physically and mentally… and the only thing we can do is just sign off. It almost bringings the entire EP together as well because ‘signing off’ is almost a metaphor for letting go. Letting go of the materialistic and social desires of life, and just signing off of it all. If I have to say my favorite song musically, it would be ‘Heartless.’ I was really proud of how the production and melodies of that one turned out.”
