The Ultimate FLEETWOOD MAC Tribute Band, RUMOURS Bring DON’T STOP! THE MUSICAL to LA’s Largo!

Last Friday night (September 20th), the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Rumours performed in “Don’t Stop! The Musical.” This scripted musical comedy was held at the intimate West Los Angeles venue, Largo at the Coronet. The incredibly entertaining and delightful production captures the band in its pompous and raucous prime.
After a 2013 residency at the Roxy Theater on the Sunset Strip, this group of performers known as Rumours; Ned Brower, Nicholas Johns, Rebecca Fishman, Kit Pongetti and Taylor Locke went on the road all over the U.S. and Canada playing the music of Fleetwood Mac. Along with putting “Don’t Stop! The Musical” together, they still continue to tour to this day.

Narrated by well-known comedian Matt Walsh (VEEP, UCB creator), “Don’t Stop! The Musical” is a roughly 2 hour show including a 15 minute intermission. It will make you fall in love all over again with the iconic group’s tunes.
From beginning to end, the cast took the sold-out audience on a musical historical adventure. It began with the very first time the members; Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckingham formed in London in 1967 and ended when the group reunited to perform “Don’t Stop” at Bill Clinton’s 1993 Inaugural Ball. (This 1977 hit was the theme song of his presidential campaign)

The tribute band covered most of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits including “Go Your Own Way,” “Dreams,” “The Chain,” “Rhiannon”, “Landslide,” “Gypsy” and many others. Their rich and melodic voices soared gorgeously over the audience. At times it was even hard to remember that the real Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckingham weren’t on stage performing. Along with the incredible singing, the performers also know their way around the instruments. Taylor Locke as Buckingham in particular was a big highlight of the show. His impressive guitar-playing skills were spectacular to watch. They truly sounded exactly like Fleetwood Mac.
In between playing all of the beloved songs, the group cleverly and comically acted out the highlights of this 26-year time-frame. They accurately portrayed all of the romantic drama within the band and the extra-curricular habits they developed too. However, despite all the personal turmoil, the biggest take away from “Don’t Stop! The Musical” is how incredible Fleetwood Mac’s music was then and continues to be today.
