Three years ago, two incredibly good looking emerging solo artists from opposite sides of the country randomly met at a music video shoot, they fell in love, and combined their talent, thus creating “Us The Duo”.
In a nutshell, these two are that adorable, lovey-dovey couple we all hated in high school. But here’s the thing, you don’t want to hate these two. They are just too sweet, nice and talented. If I didn’t already believe in true love and romance, I would certainly want to after seeing their live show.
On Wednesday, May 21st at the The Troubadour in West Hollywood, I had the pleasure of seeing Us The Duo perform. It’s safe to say that I am a bona fide fan now! This husband and wife musical pairing (AKA Carissa and Michael Alvarado) write songs that are saccharine sweet but that is just fine with me.
The evening started off with a meet & greet at the Palm Restaurant where a few of us had a chance to meet this talented and charming couple. (See photo)

We then migrated over to The Troubadour where the stage was decorated with large comfy couches and other typical living room objects giving the show a very intimate and cozy feel.

Michael and Carissa performed songs from their new album, “No Matter Where You Are”, which tells the story of their relationship from beginning to the present. With more then 3 million followers already, it was easy to understand why most people in the audience already knew the words to their songs.
The set included their new single“No Matter Where You Are”. The couple harmonize beautifully with each other. They also performed their own version of Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit single,“Call Me Maybe” which really impressed the crowd.
Us The Duo’s lyrics frequently border on the “schmaltzy/cutesy side,” but they are indeed true folk singers.
Towards the end of the evening, they also made a video/selfie of the crowd which was quickly posted on THE VINE. For the encore, they sat at the piano and played a few of their favorite TV theme songs which was really enjoyable.
It was indeed a night full of shared moments of love and lovely vocals too.
