Laura Pergolizzi or better known as LP graced the stage at LA’s El Rey Theatre last night. (June 12)
Dressed in a metallic gold jacket and black pants, the singer dazzled the sold out venue with her brand of indie pop tunes. The crowd was loud and loved every minute of her set. They screamed and hollered at any comment LP made.
Immediately, there is no denying this 36 year-old singer has an incredible voice. The control she has over it is just as impressive. In another life, LP could have certainly been an opera singer. Let’s not forget, she also plays the acoustic guitar, ukulele, harmonica and she even whistles during a few of her tracks.
LP performed songs off her 2014 “Forever For Now” album, including “Tokyo Sunrise” and “Levitator.” She also sang a few songs from her 2016 Vagrant Records “Lost On You” album. “Muddy Waters”, “When We’re High,” “Lost On You,” “No Witness,” “Death Valley,” “You Want It All” and
“Strange” were all heard.
LP’s lyrics are full of positive imagery and plenty of powerful uplifting lyrics so it’s no wonder that the energy of the crowd felt all of that too.
