Last night, on Sunday, May 7th, Hollywood’s newest music venue/event space, The Neuehouse, provided an incredibly swanky spot for the Havana Maestros to perform songs off their newest album, “Americuba.” They are all-star cast of legendary Cuban musicians and arrangers, including musicians from the Buena Vista Social Club. The album will be out on May 26th via Sounds Worldwide/ADA.
The Neuehouse provided a perfect place for the band to showcase their forthcoming collection. There was plenty of room to move and allow a few couples to salsa dance but also intimate enough to feel connected to the music.
According the The Neuehouse’s website, the structure was a “modernist icon built by CBS founder Bill Paley who described the building as a ‘Machine for Broadcasting’ and it was the first building in the world purpose-built for what Paley described as the “new art and science of mass communication.”
The Havana Maestros are incredible musicians. Each one of them beautifully executed their instrument and their skills. This “Americuba” collection features re-imagined American hits from artists like Missy Elliott, Jason Derulo, Otis Redding and Janelle Monae. The songs are infused with distinctively Cuban rhythms, creating music that unifies countries and cultures all around the world. Produced by the GRAMMY-winning duo the Berman Brothers, the album is a perfect variety of new and old sounds mixed together.
The packed crowd at The Neuehouse loved hearing these song re-interpreted with a sexy and smooth Cuban flair.
