The Friday Five: New Music Roundup 11/12/21
Another Friday, another day of new music. Get ready for the weekend by checking out this week’s The Friday Five below:

“Bite Me” by Avril Lavigne
Pop-punk legend Avril Lavigne premiered her new single “Bite Me” this week which marks her first release on Travis Barker’s label DTA Records. The new single is instantly reminiscent of the sound from Lavigne’s first album with a modern take. With her signature attitude coursing through the song and a Tweet that describes the release as “just a taste of what’s to come” it appears that Avril is back.
“OH WELL” by Christian French
After what feels like months of non-stop promotion and pre-save requests, Disruptor Records artist Christian French finally releases his much anticipated single “OH WELL.” After premiering the song during his tour this summer, the song became an instant fan favorite. With label hesitation holding up the release, French took to social media to encourage fans to pre-save the track and prove it was worthy of release. Relatable with a chorus that’s an instant sing-a-long, it was (Oh) Well worth the wait.
“BROKEN PEOPLE” by morgxn & Phoebe Ryan
Indie pop singer morgxn releases new EP MERIDIAN: vol 2 which includes 5 songs including the Phoebe Ryan assisted “Broken People.” Beautifully heartbreaking yet comforting finds the two singers coming to terms with being broken people “trying to relieve this.” Given the past two years we’ve been through it would seem the idea of being broken is one that many can relate to and find solace in the new collab.
“Never A Good Time” by NOTD & The Band CAMINO
Swedish DJ/production duo NOTD taps American alt rock band The Band CAMINO for latest release, “Never A Good Time” which NOTD called “a dream come true.” The new song shows a different style from the producers than fans have become accustomed to. Forfeiting a glistening progressive house drop the guys share a more subtle production that aims to compliment The Band CAMINO’s alternative sound – one in which they nail.
“Sunshine” by OneRepublic
Following up August’s album, Human, the Ryan Tedder fronted band OneRepublic returns with an upbeat single, “Sunshine.” The new song which will appear on the upcoming film Clifford the Big Red Dog, is drenched in optimism and positive as Tedder calls out “my life is woo-hoo!” in the chorus. Epic Records artist Madison Beer recently released “Room For You” which will also appear on the soundtrack.
Because there’s sometimes too much good new music, here’s some additional releases that deserve to be listened to:
- “Cool Kids” by Justus Bennetts
- “Love” by Trousdale
