On Saturday, October 4th, I had the pleasure of seeing three incredibly talented bands perform at the downtown Los Angeles venue, Club Nokia. As part of the Honda Civic Tour, Echosmith, The Mowgli’s and American Authors made for an unforgettable night of music.
Established in 2001, each year, the headlining band or bands customize a Honda Civic for concert patrons to win in a raffle.
The young members of the LA-based band, Echosmith kicked off their set with “Come Together,” which is the first track off their first full debut album titled Talking Dreams
The Echosmith lead singer, Sydney Sierota, set the tone for the night with her strong, yet still delicate vocals, while her brothers Jamie, Graham, and Noah, showed an overwhelming mastery of their art. The entire band’s enthusiasm during their opening song truly set the bar high for the rest of their set. Of course, one of the most notable songs of the night from Echosmith was the performance of their popular song “Cool Kids.”
After their performance, I was lucky enough to meet Sydney and snag a quick photo with her!
Next up were The Mowgli’s who I am not as familiar with but I really enjoyed their spirited high-energy show. This band’s feel-good vibe came across in full force.
The band’s eight members include Michael Vincze, Colin Louis Dieden, Katie Jayne Earl, Matthew Di Panni, Josh Hogan, Dave Applebaum, Spencer Trent, and Andy Warren. Each song they performed, provided plenty of positive vibes to power downtown LA. The Mowgli’s ended their set with their radio hit, “San Francisco”.
Last but certainly not least was the Brooklyn based band, American Authors. I’ve been a fan of theirs for awhile and have been wanting to see their live show for quite some time. To start off their set, American Authors played some old favorites from their EP, like “Believer”, “Luck”, and “Home”.
American Authors were certainly full of energy. Their set list included their current hit, “Best Day of My Life”. The front man, Zac Garnett was witty and charming.
All three bands certainly held their own and their sounds were very complimentary to each other providing a perfect musical night.
