Thanks for your time today! Where does this interview find you? Is there music playing in the background? If so, what is it?
Lounging around with my puppy at my LA apartment. Currently listening to Taylor’s Swift new album, Reputation.
What music gets you instantly out of a bad mood? What is a song you are loving these days?
Bad Mood – Miley Cyrus & Ready For It – Taylor Swift
Growing up, did you always want to be a musician? Can you recall your earliest musical memory?
Growing up I’ve always loved singing, dancing, and performing. I would sing at talent shows around my state and competed in pageant competitions growing up.
Was there a time where you thought of doing something completely different?
I attended college and studied Fashion Design, which I still have a huge love for and hope to eventually have my own line.
Overall, how do you think 2017 has been for you and music career? What are you most excited about for in 2018?
In 2017, I was in the studio and really working hard at finding my sound so that when I was ready to release something, I’d be really happy with it and so would my fans. 2018 is gearing up to be really exciting with lots of new music and projects!
I always like to ask artists about where they came from and how that city or town has influenced them as an artist now. So how do you think your hometown and current home has affected you and your music today?
I grew up in Colorado and in California dancing and singing so I was always around a creative and musical environment and loved every minute of it.
What was the inspiration for your newest single, “Playing With Fire”? How do you think it is different or similar to anything else you have released?
Playing With Fire has the same up-beat dance vibe as my other music, but this song feels more mature and sneak peak of what’s to come!
When do you hope to release more new music and a full collection of new songs?
Hopefully the beginning of 2018.
Are you incredibly flattered by the comparison that some news outlets have made about you and Katy Perry?
Of course! I have always looked up to Katy Perry. She is incredibly talented, unique and is always her true self.
What did it feel like being a Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star? What was that whole experience like for you?
Being a Macy’s iHeart Radio Rising Star was an amazing experience, I was so honored.
We are living in a crazy and at times rough world right now so I am curious how you think being a musician gives you the most joy in life today? How do you think that new music being created today is going to reflect these difficult times?
It’s so important to surround yourself with positivity, for musicians, they have the opportunity to use their voice to make music that is going to uplift people and send out love.
Who are some of your favorite artists or rather, what musicians have continued to inspire you and your music? What musicians would you absolutely still love to work with in the future?
Miley Cyrus has always been a huge inspiration to me, musically and as a human. Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and Gwen Stefani also continue to inspire me creatively. In the future, I would love to collaborate with Pharrell – he is a musical genius. As well as Liam Payne, I love the direction he’s going with his solo career.
What do you hope your fans take away from your music? Do you think there is a greater music in your songs?
I hope they love and continue to love music that I put out. I hope it makes them feel happy and just want to dance and have a good time.
What advice would you give to a young person who is thinking about becoming a musician one day?
Don’t give up!! If music is something you genuinely love, then go after it and don’t let anyone or anything stop you.
Would you like to share anything else about yourself or your music with our readers?
I will be releasing a Christmas cover song later this month, so keep an eye out for that!
