From December 7th to January 27th, the Los Angeles venue Rockwell Table & Stage is home to the production of “Scissorhands: A Musical Inspired by the Film.”
From beginning to end, this show will truly entertain any fan of the original 1990 Tim Burton film, Edward Scissorhands. With their delicious food, Rockwell Table & Stage serves as the perfect venue for this intimate and engaging theatrical event.
The cast of “Scissorhands” are delightful at all the right moments and then heartfelt and moving at other times. All of the performers have incredible voices, in particular the leads- Peg (Emma Hunton), Kim (Natalie Masini), Jordan Kai Burnett (Scissorhands) and Dionne Gipson (Inventor). But they aren’t just singing any old songs- they are belting out some of the best songs of the past few decades. Hits from Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Nirvana, Tears for Fears, Aerosmith, Beatles, ABBA, David Bowie, Madonna, Sia, Whitney Houston, Florence and The Machine and many others were heard throughout the night.
Put on by The Fuse Project, Kate Pazakis and Bradley Bredeweg are the creators of “Scissorhands.”
Pazakis explains, “This holiday treat has been a long time in the making, simmering inside our minds.” Adding, “and this being Hollywood during the holidays, we can only imagine who from the film cast might show up on any given night to celebrate with us!”
Bredeweg comments, “I have always wanted to pay tribute to Edward Scissorhands, along with the idea of a female to play the lead.” Adding, “today, when diverse casting has become so important, I’m excited to turn an already big-hearted iconic holiday movie into a unique and memorable immersive theatrical experience for a modern audience.”
