The Peach Kings are a sexy indie-fuzz, rock noir duo. Their sound can be described as relatable rock n’ roll and it’s definitely the soundtrack for their intimate love story.
They have caught the attention of many including famed actress Drew Barrymore and also had their songs synced in hot TV shows like Shameless and Boardwalk Empire. TPK just finished up dates opening for The Heavy and Cyndi Lauper. They are currently on a summer headlining run.
Within days of meeting back in 2010, The Peach Kings had a growing catalog of songs. A few months later, The Peach Kings, won the first place title as Alternative Apparel’s “2010 Unsigned Artist of the Year” after going head to head against four other contenders in a battle of the bands. It was clear that the song writing and on stage chemistry was strong. Since the victory, the The Peach Kings self released a demo EP and a 6 track EP, establishing themselves as an authentic Los Angeles band with the perfect blend of grit and gloss, scoring major radio play and multiple “Today’s Top Tune” honors on LA stations and beyond.

Thanks for your time! How’s 2016 treating you so far?
Steve: Its going by so quickly we cannot believe it! So much awesome shit happening.
Paige: I feel like without planning it, we’ve been ticking off so many things from our bucket list with all the amazing experiences that have been happening.
How’s your summer been going?
Steven: Is it summer already?
Paige: A mixture of meeting our idols, meeting amazing fans, seeing parts of the country you have never seen before all while doing it with your better half has been incredible.
What were some of the highlights of 2015 for you and your music?
Steven & Paige: First national tour, played a lot of cities we’ve never been to that had so many fans asking us to come out. Finally getting to meet them face to face, it has been very rewarding. We’ve also been writing so much new music and excited about the coming months.
Growing up, did you always want to be a musician?
Steven: I did always tend to study guitar more than doing homework, the trajectory of being a professional musician was not intentional.
Paige: I never had a chance to think about it, just so happened that playing music took the lead.
Can you recall your earliest musical memory?
Steven: Strong memories of my dad playing Tennessee Stud by Doc Watson on his guitar.
Paige: Listening to Led Zeppelin outside of my sisters bedroom door.
How was The Peach Kings first formed?
Steven & Paige: We could have met in so many different ways since our parents are from the same small town in Texas. But we happened to meet in San Francisco by way of recommendation from Steven’s brother.
How did you first come up with the name?
Steven & Paige: The peach is one of the first things we ever shared, and it can be a metaphor for a number of things. But we have embraced it as a physical moment of time.
I’m a big fan of Drew Barrymore so I have to ask about catching her attention and your recent magazine shoot with her. How did that all happen?
Steven: She reached out to us, we love her too. Drew being Drew knows more about the music scene than most people because she is very much a part of it. Paige: Its the law of physics, all these people we love and adore the universe finds a way to put us together.
How was your tour with Heavy?
Steven: Really awesome to play with musicians that we respect musically and as people and who have inspired us as musicians.
Paige: Like everything you would want it to be, down to earth, humble band, amazing fans, sold out shows, and a killer show.
And how’s your current tour with Cyndi Lauper going?
Paige: We are playing with an icon its unbelievable, especially since I grew up listening to her with my sister, Cyndi is our hero.
Steven: We get asked this all the time, and its best summed up by saying its like watching a movie about our lives that we are not actually in.
Are you excited to go out on your headlining tour this summer? What do you think will be different about that tour then opening for those big names?
Paige: Cant wait! We are going to introduce some new elements to the show. We’ve got some really loyal fans who have been with us from the beginning that we get to see again and new fans who will really get to see us up close and personal on this upcoming run.
Steven: We get to rekindle some new friendships on these previous runs and get to play more intimate shows.
Where do you get the inspiration for your music?
Steven & Paige: Its hard to say where any inspiration comes from directly, we take away so many different things from our day and that usually translates into its own evolution.
Your music has been featured in several shows. What’s that been like for you? Which ones have you been the most excited about?
Steven: Very exciting, knowing that other people are hearing our songs and coming out to shows as a result. Many fans talk about hearing us on their favorite show and how it led them to come out to our show.
Paige: Hearing your music on the big screen is great, the fact that directors like to fit your song to something they envision is a huge honor.
Who are some of your favorite artists? Who would you love to work with one day?
Steven & Paige: PJ Harvey, Juliette Lewis, Tarantino, Billy Bob Thornton, Abbe May, Trent Reznor.
At the end of the day, what do you hope is the message for your music? What do you hope listeners take away from your songs?
Steven & Paige: What do you take away from your day at work? Thats the thing about music, the listener can do whatever they want and they want to interpret what it means to them. We don’t presume for people to take anything specific away from our music, we try to play what we hear in our heads and let the people decide on their own.
