Washington-based indie-alt rock band Night Argent (similar to Imagine Dragons, AWOLNATION, The Neighbourhood) dominated the stage in Los Angeles recently against The Republic Of Wolves, Trophy Wives, and Ascot Royals at the Ernie Ball Vans Warped Tour Battle of the Bands headlined by The Devil Wears Prada. In celebration of winning this knuckle-biting competition, Night Argent has released their enchanting single, “Nothing More Beautiful,” a powerful yet ambient anthem that shows why Night Argent is the next band on the rise!
“The guys of Night Argent have a lot to crow about these days as their music makes waves in the industry.” – Tri-City Herald
Hailing from Pasco, WA, Night Argent consists of vocalist Chase Manhattan, guitarist Jeff Stachofsky, bassist Evan Taylor, drummer Zac Burrell, and Shane Santanna on keys. Together, the band’s infectious melodies and lively performance complete their impressive, breakthrough sound. Night Argent has opened up for Imagine Dragons, and played alongside Andy Grammar, Parachute, Andrew Belle, and more. Their music has won Grand Prize at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and awards from the Billboard World Song Contest and ISC. Night Argent’s music has been featured on MTV, Bravo, and Showtime with and their cover of Imagine Dragon’s “Radioactive” had over 2 Million views on YouTube!
With a win like Ernie Ball to kick off the year, Night Argent is showing no signs of stopping as they make their mark in the music industry. The Washington State natives recently headlined a 6 week, 7 state tour sponsored by AXS TV – the new music and entertainment network owned by Ryan Seacrest, Mark Cuban, AEG, and CAA. Night Argent also recently performed on “AXS Live“, and won a “Best Cover” contest hosted by “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.”
All Access Music writer, Nicole DeRosa got to ask Chase a few questions before the band hits the road once again on the Vans Warped Tour. Read more in their Q&A below!
Hi Chase! Where does this interview find you today? What’s on the agenda today besides our interview?
Right now we’re at our studio in WA state. Today, we’ll be rehearsing for our upcoming shows, and working on the upcoming EP.
For those not as familiar with you and your music, how did you guys get your start in music and know you wanted to form Night Argent with one another?
We all discovered our passion for music and performance in high school, while participating in the high school music programs. We had all played in different bands previously, but Night Argent came together when we realized we all wanted this to be more than just a hobby. We want to make music for the rest of our lives.
I understand you guys snagged the Grand Prize at the Ernie Ball Vans Warped Tour Battle of The Bands. Congratulations! What was that moment like for you? What does the Grand Prize entail exactly?
It was surreal and unexpected. We believe in our music and what we’re trying to achieve, but you never know how people are going to react to it. We were so wrapped up in the high of the performance, that it took a second to register when they called our name.
The grand prize includes a $15,000 Guitar Center shopping spree, a 3 song EP with John Feldmann, a feature in AltPress magazine, and more cool gear than we can even begin to name!
Can you share with me what your inspiration was for your current single, “Nothing More Beautiful”?
“Nothing More Beautiful” was written as a call to those who have lost everything. A reminder that it’s in our darkest hour that we discover how strong we truly are.
Who are your musical influences?
Our biggest musical influences would have to be OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, and MuteMath.
Do you remember the first album you bought for yourself?
For each of us it’s been different, it ranges from Metallica to John Mayer. We have a very diversified musical taste in our band, which we think helps bring a depth to the music we create.
What was the first song you fell in love with and why?
We all have songs that have influenced us immensely as individuals. As a band, our first song we fell in love with was “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons. Covering that song was the first musical thing we did together before we became Night Argent.
Who would your dream collaboration be with, living or dead?
There are so many artists we’d love to work with, but it’d be amazing if we could’ve done a collaboration with Jimmy Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain both.
Both are artists from the Pacific Northwest, and they both died way before their time. We would have loved to hear them create more music, and it’d be incredible to be a part of that.
Who is in your current playlist? Any artists, musicians or genres we might be surprised to find in there?
Right now our playlist includes Tove Lo, The Weeknd, James Young, Seven Lions, and Bruno Mars…and Chase’s playlist has T-Swift. 😉
Night Argent has opened for the likes of Imagine Dragons and played alongside Andy Grammar, Parachute, Andrew Belle and more. What has been your most memorable tour/show to date?
Our most memorable show right now would be playing the Ernie Ball show at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. Not only is it an amazing venue, but we got to play for a crowd that had never seen us before, and that were there for a band that has a completely different sound than us. But we were still able to engage them and get them excited about our music.
What’s on tap next for Night Argent? What are you most excited about in 2015?
Next we have recording/releasing our EP, shooting music videos, and heading out on Warped Tour. We’re definitely most excited for Warped Tour. For us, nothing beats visiting new places, and interacting with our fans.
