Hi Maddie! Where does our interview find you? What’s on the agenda today besides our interview?
Hi Nicole! Right now, I’m at home in Pittsburgh just starting my day. A typical day for me starts with homeschooling then a few days out of the week I head to dance class in the afternoon until about 8 or 9 at night.
It’s been hard to stay on track of my dance schedule lately with so much going on, but I’m trying my best! I also try my best to squeeze in some time to spend with friends and family.
So first things, first…how did you get into the world of choreography and dance?
I’ve loved dancing for as long as I can remember. I started dancing when I was a baby and never stopped. I’ve trained in a bunch of different dance styles my whole life, and have a love for every one of them.
I understand you just joined Dance.com, a premiere online community and social network for the dance industry. Can you tell our readers what exactly that is and why you wanted to be involved?
Dance.com is a new online platform and social network that brings together everyone in the dance industry, from students and teachers to studios and dance brands.
“I wanted to be involved with Dance.com because there is no other platform out there that is specifically for those of us who love dance. On Dance.com I get to share my biggest passion with people who love dance just as much as I do.”
What does it mean for you to share your life on social media, specifically a dance-driven platform?
I love being able to connect with my fans, see their dance videos and photos, interact, and read all of their messages. It’s always fun to see when they post videos of their dance routines and choreography. On Dance.com, there are dancers from every style of dance like hip hop, jazz and even belly dancing, so it’s awesome that we all get to connect in one place.
If you could tell your fans and other dancers anything about Dance.com, what would you want them to know?
“I’d like my fans and fellow dancers to know that Dance.com is really a place for us to inspire each other and learn from one another. There’s a really cool tutorial section where you can actually learn dance moves and routines in different styles of dance. You can also check out auditions and dance events. It has everything a dancer could want and I’m super excited to be a part of it.”
Who is a better dancer Shia LaBeouf (“Elastic Heart”) or Kristen Wiig? (you performed with at 57th Grammys for “Chandelier”) Or rather…did you come up with the choreography and then teach them?
“That’s way too hard of a question! The fact that both Shia LeBeouf and Kristen Wiig don’t come from a dance background, but they were both able to pull off some really amazing choreography is super cool. I think the fact that both of them are actors really made their performances special.”
Nowadays, everything is so instant…you press a button and it’s yours ala Spotify, Sound cloud, iTunes etc. What was the first album you remember going to the store purchasing for yourself? If you can’t remember… what album has had the biggest impact on you and why?
I’m not sure what the first album I bought was, but some of my favorite artists to listen to are Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.
Dance and choreography is an art form that is always evolving and ever changing. Do you have a favorite style?
It’s hard to pick just one! I train in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and contemporary. The work I’ve done with Sia has all been very contemporary and it’s some of my favorite dancing that I’ve performed.
What’s on tap next for you? I understand you will be making your feature film debut this year in The Book of Henry and you have also been cast in a film written and to be directed by Sia, titled, “Sister”.
I definitely plan to continue dancing! But I do also sing and act and I’m really exciting about getting into acting and seeing what the future holds.
I have some exciting projects coming up that you mentioned that I can’t wait to share more details about soon!

She loves the infectious energy and enthusiasm of the music industry and she feels right at home having music compliment her every day. Nicole blends her experience and skills which she has culled from her time working in New York as a photo researcher and editor at Entertainment Weekly and Harpers Bazaar Magazine. Another notable experience while living in London was her first time ever calling into a radio station, she won an invite to a record release party with the Beastie Boys for their album 'Ill Communication'. "I love London as it has such a vibrant and diverse music scene and I couldn't help but go out every night to check out gig after gig. It was a wonderful time." Living near the notable Sherpards Bush Empire music venue one of her most favorite concerts to date was seeing Bjork. Nicole has also worked for Walt Disney World in Product Development and later went on to work at Disney's Feature Animation Archives in Florida. Nicole has a passion for travel and adventure and has always wanted to live in California so she packed up and moved four years ago to the "left coast" and has been loving it ever since.
