Watch a live performance by TRITONAL and you’ll understand the hype. The American production and DJ duo of Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed have firmly situated themselves as one of the most electrifying acts in the international EDM scene. Their zest for life and music is apparent to anyone who’s witnessed them in person or through their speakers and is just one reason why they resonate intensely with their loyal followers, “Tritonians.”
After earning a spot on MTV Clubland‘s “10 Artists to Watch in 2013” list, TRITONAL have continued to launch track after track on to the Beatport charts and ignite dance floors around the world with their energetic and unforgettable sets. The duo unleashed their debut studio album to the world in 2011 with “Piercing the Quiet”, which produced eight Top 20 Beatport singles including five that held the #1 position on the Beatport trance chart for more than three weeks.
Currently masters of their own “Metamorphic” series of EPs, TRITONAL conjures its audio alchemy with revelatory releases like the recent “Metamorphic I” featuring “Bullet That Saved Me” and “Follow Me Home” and “Metamorphic II”, which features the smash hit “Now Or Never” as well as the buzzed about “Electric Glow”.
Having just wrapped their first 40-city headlining North American “Metamorphic” tour, TRITONAL continuously receive peer support by fellow DJ kingpins including Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Steve Aoki, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Nicky Romero, and many more.
TRITONAL released the first installment of their new Tritonia mix compilation series with “Tritonia Chapter 001” on their own imprint, Enhanced Music back in December, 2013.
Ever since their explosion onto the scene, Tritonal have consistently and emphatically excelled in all areas. Whether it be their encapsulating originals, impeccable remixes or energy-filled live shows, the Texan duo have always made an impression – continuing in that very same awe-striking vein, Chad and Dave present the long-awaited and much anticipated sequel to their hugely successful debut Tritonia compilation. Tritonia – Chapter 002 has finally arrived, and fans of the weekly Tritonia Radio Show are once again in for a treat.
All Access Music writer, Nicole DeRosa had a chance to catch up with Chad and Dave and ask them a few questions. Read more in their Q&A below!
Hi Chad! Where does this interview find you today? What’s on the agenda today besides our interview?
Chad – You find me in the studio at 1am, been here since 10am straight grinding!! Going for broke on this new album I guess you could say.
For those not as familiar with Tritonal and your music, how did you get your start in music? Who or what was the catalyst for you?
Dave – As individuals, I can say both Chad and myself grew up in musical families. So for one, living in such a creative environment has pushed us into exploring our paths musically. I’ve always had a sweet spot for melody and enjoyed writing in a way where I could tap into an emotion.. After Chad and I met in a discussion online, we started sharing a lot of our own works with each other and liked where are heads were at! So, we started Tritonal and now with so many productions under our belts!
You guys just released your long-awaited and much anticipated sequel to your hugely successful debut Tritonia compilation, Tritonia – Chapter 002 on March 9th through Enhanced Music. What did you learn between albums and playing live that you felt you wanted to infuse into the sequel?
Chad – Oh so much!! Think you’re spot on mentioning the live element, it influences so much of how we write and A&R other artists. That said, good music is good music and the main thing we wanted to put together on this compilation album was a story composed of great tunes!! We spent almost 5 months building the tracks, and in the end are super happy with the result. Its hard to quantify “what you learn” about music because its such a personal thing. I think the main growth we’ve experienced in 2014 was our maturation in the song writing process.
Can you share with me what your inspiration was for your infectious single, “Electric Glow”?
Dave – Definitely! Firstly, that vocal, when we heard Skylar sing it, we were completely mesmerized with the top melody, we loved the message of it too and wanted to capture the very heartbeat of the record. We went through many renditions before we felt we nailed this one – but what a fun record this was! I think there’s a quality when the message is positive but sung in a way that isn’t “cheesy” We love how it tapped into this
Who are your musical influences?
Chad – Nils Frahm, Coldplay, Jon Hopkins & Blackmill!
Do you remember the first album you bought for yourself?
Dave – Hell yeah! First album I ever bought for myself was Ace of Base haha!
What was the first song you fell in love with and why?
Chad – Michael Jackson’s Thriller!! Because dat jam is straight FIYAH!! \0/
Who would your dream collaboration be with (living or dead)?
Dave – Chris Martin from Coldplay!!!
Who is in your current playlist? Any artists, musicians or genres we might be surprised to find in there?
Chad – Tycho, Odesza, & Alpines – Cacoon!
What’s on tap next for Tritonal? What are you most excited about in 2015?
Chad – FINISHING OUR NEXT ARTIST ALBUM!!!!!
