On The Radar: Megan Nicole
Have you heard of Megan Nicole? She’s the latest You Tube star to make the transition into being a major label-recording artist. She began making a name for herself back in 2009 when she was a 15 year old Pop music lover posting covers videos from her home in Houston Texas. Since posting her first cover, which was “Use Somebody” by Kings Of Leon, she has steadily built a following of subscribers that even some established industry vets would envy. As of late, she has well over 2 million subscribers, and she doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
After covering a series of hits from stars like Bruno Mars, Eminem, Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen, and One Direction, Megan decided to take her first risk at releasing an original son in the summer of 2011. The result of that effort was “B-E-A-Utifle”, which went on to be seen by over 17 million people. One of those many millions was Bad Boy Records president Harve Pierre. Pierre immediately saw the momentum behind everything that Megan was doing and quickly brought her to the attention of his label’s CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs. Combs then set up a meeting with Jimmy Iovine to ensure that Megan Nicole would be signed to Bad Boy/Interscope Records in 2012.
The boosting of her new record contract created the opportunity for her second original single, which is called “Summer Forever.” Both of her original tunes are incredibly catchy, and we felt that they deserved to be on your radar.
