On The Radar: Dustin Tavella

We’ve created “On The Radar” to call attention to new artists or happenings that are building buzz. Most often the ones building the buzz will be new talents trying to make their way in the business.  We love supporting new music, and are very proud that we now have the power of All Access to make that process that much more meaningful. Our first of these new talents we wanted to highlight is named Dustin Tavella.

Those of you who have been following the blogosphere may recognize his name from being heavily associated with Selena Gomez.  Last month Gomez used his song “Everybody Knows (Your Boyfriend Is A Douchebag)” in a You Tube video with friends. Since being posted on March 9th to Gomez’s official channel, Dustin’s “Everybody Knows” has been seen over 2 million times to date.  This made us curious, and after digging a bit deeper, we found out (according to his official site) that underneath that song with a racy title and enjoyable groove, are several indications that he is a young guy wanting to use his talents to give back to the less fortunate.

We discovered one of the best examples of this when looking at his T-shirts and website banners. They say “Live like Ella.” Ella is Ella Grace, a 4-year-old girl that was in Tavella’s life before losing her battle with cancer in February.  He hopes to use them as reminders to see outside of personal circumstances and remember to love others selflessly the way Ella did.  It is a sentiment we couldn’t help but support.
