New Indie-Alternative Band, SomeKindaWonderful Bring a Unique Sound to the Bootleg Theater.
On Tuesday, April 15th, the 5 piece Cleveland-based group, SomeKindaWonderful, impressed me and a sizeable crowd at the intimate Los Angeles venue, The Bootleg Theater.
Perhaps why I enjoy them so much is because I find it difficult to really pinpoint their style of music. They manage to creatively mix soul and r&b together, along with some powerful pop and indie rock influences too. These are tunes you can’t soon forget. SomeKindaWonderful takes you on a journey through the lead singer, Jordy Towers’ infectious melodies. After each song, I was always left wanting more.
Their hit single, “Reverse” is a ‘your cheatin’ heart’ type song and it is literally told in reverse, but it works on a higher level than just some hipster gimmick. Their sound is different. It’s got a vague indie vibe to it, and yet it has massive crossover appeal.
I have no doubt that SomeKindaWonderful are here to stay so be sure to check them out if you have a chance. I look forward to hearing more about these newcomers.
