MATT & KIM’s ‘Grand’ 10 Year Anniversary Celebration Tour Comes to Downtown LA’s Novo!

The Brooklyn, NY duo Matt & Kim brought the 10th Anniversary Celebration of their critically-acclaimed breakout album, “Grand” (Fader) to downtown LA’s Novo Theatre last week on Thursday, November 7th. This tour kicked up on October 17th and will end on November 25th. (Tour Dates)

Throughout the entire show, their was an air of intensity, confidence and energy. Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboards) and Kim Schifino (drums) are two incredible live entertainers. They began the night by playing their entire 2009 collection, “Grand.”

In between playing tracks on it like “Daylight,” “Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare,” “Lessons Learned,” “Turn This Boat Around” and the additional other 8 songs on the album, Matt & Kim had a few pictures shown on the screen behind them. They were photos that were taken during the making of “Grand” at Matt’s childhood home in Vermont. The duo joked that it’s only a 28min long album so once they were done performing all the songs on it, they moved onto playing some other favorite tracks off other albums and some new songs too. Other songs heard were “Hey Now,” “Go Go,” “Money,” “It’s Alright,” “Happy If You You’re Happy” and they wrapped up the night with “Let’s Go.”

Matt & Kim put on an incredible visually stimulating show. They threw all kinds of things into the packed crowd- brightly colored confetti, inflatable male and female dummies and balloons. The two also encouraged the audience goers in the front that had started a mosh pit to feel free to crowd surf. The excitement didn’t end there- Kim flashed the venue at one point and then proceeded to use a dildo to play her drums! Together all of this made for a highly entertaining and fun show for all in attendance!
