“Being a rebel heart. Living for love. They’re all kind of intertwined, you know — rising above, believing in your dreams, overcoming heartbreak, things like that… You know, the simple things in life.”
On Tuesday October 27th, Madonna brought her tenth worldwide tour to the Los Angeles venue, The Forum. The tour supports her recently released thirteenth studio album entitled “Rebel Heart” out via Interscope Records.
Besides a later then usual start time, the Queen of Pop’s show was absolutely breathtaking in every way! It was visually stunning and energetic from start to finish. It also proved just how powerful and long-lasting her music continues to be through the years.
Starting off with a bang, the show commenced with a video featuring Madonna flirting with men mixed with videos of Mike Tyson taking inside of a cage. She then started the show performing a few newer songs off “Rebel Heart”, “Iconic” and “Bitch I’m Madonna.”
Along with her incredible dancing skills, it was also very impressive to watch Madonna play several numbers on the guitar. She played a fun rock version of her 1985 hit, “Burning Up” and then later on in the show, she sang 1986’s “True Blue” while playing the ukulele.
One major highlight of the show was when a spiral staircase fell from the ceiling onto the end of the stage for a mashup of her newer song “HeartBreakCity” and 1984’s “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore.” During this number, one of Madonna’s male dancers chased her up and down the stairs until finally she pushed him off the top of them into a large hole in the stage. This certainly caused the crowd to shriek a bit!
The packed arena was particularly loud and excited during Madonna’s remix of 1984’s “Like A Virgin” and her giant sing-along to 1989’s “Like A Prayer. “
The night rolled on this way with hit after hit followed by new songs off “Rebel
Heart.” “Living For Love”, “La Isla Bonita”, “Dress You Up”, “Into The Groove”, “Everybody” and many many others were heard.
Yet another highlight of the concert was when Madonna performed 1984’s “Material Girl.” Throughout this number, she pushed tuxedo-wearing dancers down an incline on the stage.
And who could forget that during “Unapologetic Bitch”, she called up someone from the audience who just so happened to have been Katy Perry! They both drank from a banana flask and laughed on stage together.
With each passing song, Madonna proved over and over again what great shape she is in right now. Her stamina was outstanding. Despite the fact that there were 20 other dancers on stage with her, Madonna definitely held her own and appears to have really worked hard on her dancing chops for this tour.
Fortunately, the Rebel Heart Tour is far from over. It will head to Europe next, followed by more US dates in January 2016 and then over to Asia and Australia in February and March.
This is indeed one show you don’t want to miss!
