With the release of R&B singer Jhene Aiko newest album, Souled Out, just weeks away, a private listening event was held at Sonos Studio in West Los Angeles on August 26th.
In 2011, Aiko released her full-length project, a mixtape titled sailing soul(s). In November 2013, she released her first EP, titled Sail Out, which had the singles, “3:16 AM”, “Bed Peace” and ‘The Worst”. On September 9th, she will be releasing her upcoming debut album, Souled Out via DefJam and ARTium Recordings.
At this exclusive event, every song (in it’s entirety) on the new album was played for a small crowd. Jhene spoke about each song on Souled Out and what they mean her.
Some of the stand out tracks to me were “Limbo Limbo Limbo”, ‘To Love and Die” which features Cocaine 90’s, “The Pressure” and “Pretty Bird” which features the well known rapper Common.
While shy and at times timid, it’s clear that Jhene is one talented singer and songwriter.
She’s been buzzing for some time now, but things are about to fully take off with Souled Out. With big features and impressive projects already on her resume, the Sail Out star is about to launch herself to the next level.
