Via Columbia Records, “Loud (y)” is the debut single from the Rockaway Beach – based band Lewis Del Mar. The track has received recent accolades from iTunes, KCRW, SiruisXM, and Spotify. It was also hit #1 on Hype Machine and was hailed as one of iTunes/Apple Music’s “Best Alternative Songs Of 2015″ and made SiriusXM Alt Nation’s “Songs To Know For 2016” list.
Lewis Del Mar is two lifelong friends, singer/guitarist Danny Miller and drummer/producer Max Harwood. They began playing music together by 5th grade and continued to do so throughout high school. After graduation, the two moved to Brooklyn, NY before eventually relocating to Rockaway Beach, marking the beginning of Lewis Del Mar.
The name was inspired by the fact both their dads are named Lewis, and their beach-side residence in Queens, N.Y. They spent two years developing their music before making an “official” debut. The duo’s sound is clear and meticulous. Acoustic guitar, electronic beats, noise and samples provide texture, while the indie rock vocal style keeps things grounded and clean-cut through songs about various forms of trouble the guys get into. In July of 2015, after almost two years of meticulous collaboration, Lewis Del Mar was catapulted onto the blogosphere with the independent release of their first single “Loud(y).”
Lewis Del Mar played their first ever shows at New York’s Mercury Lounge and Rough Trade late last year to sold out crowds, resulting in high praise for their live performance. The band also played two packed shows during CMJ 2015 at Webster Hall and Brooklyn Bowl, which prompted KCRW to include them in their round-up of “11 Artists that Ruled the Fest,” noting that “their live show is more than ready to be a tour de force nationwide.” For the next months, Lewis Del Mar will be busy playing shows across the U.S. and U.K. in support of their debut collection of music.
