Pop star, Janet Jackson created the ultimate #FlashbackFriday last Friday night at the Los Angeles venue, The Forum. She dazzled the sold-out crowd with smash after smash for roughly 2 hours.
This is definitely a busy time for Ms. Jackson. Along with her “Unbreakable” current world tour, she also recently became only the third act to achieve a #1 album in each of the last four decades. Her newest album “Unbreakable”, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The collection’s lead single is “No Sleeep” and it features J. Cole.
“Unbreakable” is Jackson’s first studio album since 2008’s “Discipline”, which also debuted at #1. She previously led the list with “All For You” (2001), “The Velvet Rope” (1997), “janet”. (1993), “Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814″ (1989) and “Control” (1986).
Now back to the show! 🙂 Along with 9 incredibly talented dancers, a full band and several large fans facing her at the front of the stage, Janet put on one energetic and lively show.
Creating an air of nostalgia for everyone in attendance, she performed her number 1 hits from the past 3 decades. Ms. Jackson also sang a number of songs off her recently released 11th studio album via Rhythm Nation Records, “Unbreakable”.
It would be impossible to list all the songs Janet performed. With such a large resume, it’s no wonder she was even had to sing shortened versions and medleys of many of them. It didn’t seem to bother anyone one bit though.
She also gave the audience a few remixed renditions of her older tunes. Her 1997 hit “Together Again” for example was completely transformed much to the crowd’s delight. Other songs she sang were “Escapade”, “Any time, Any place”, “That’s The Way Love Goes”, “When I Think Of You”, “All For You”, “The Pleasure Principal” and so many others.
At 49 years old, Janet Jackson proved that she is no where near slowing down. With a hit album just released, she clearly isn’t going anywhere and that’s just fine with us all!
