For 3 days, the Del Mar racetracks in San Diego, California were transformed into a music, comedy, food and booze-filled wonderland for the 4th annual KAABOO Del Mar!
This sold-out fully immersive experience not only captured a top-tier lineup of world-class musicians such as Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, and Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters, but also offered guests an elevated weekend featuring a feast for all senses with live contemporary art installments in ARTWORK; Vegas style cabanas at BASK; culinary exhibits at PALATE; comedians at HUMOR ME and spa services at INDULGENCES.
When it comes to the music, some of the festival highlights included Post Malone’s tribute to the late Mac Miller; soul and funk legends Tower of Power’s celebration of their 50th anniversary; N.E.R.D front-man Pharrell Williams jumping into the crowd to start a massive dance party; and Imagine Dragon’s hommage to the LGBTQ community.
KAABOO was also the closeout tour stop for several artists such as Seattle rockers Alice in Chains (who just concluded an extensive US run of dates); Halsey (who will soon be working on her new album); and pop superstar Katy Perry who just spent the last year traveling the world on her “Witness: The Tour.” There were also amazing throwback sets from TLC, Billy Idol, All American Rejects, Jewel and others.
“This year’s KAABOO Del Mar was our biggest event to date,” says Jason Felts, KAABOO’s Chief Brand + Marketing Officer.
When it comes to all the genres represented at KABOO Del Mar, there really was something for everyone. While a pop artist was on one stage, a rock band was on another and then a third jazz group was on even another stage in the opposite direction.
While walking down the main street, aka Kaaboo Boulevard, it’s not hard to miss all the amazing different vendors set up. A few of the brands represented at KAABOO Del Mar this year were Aperol Spritz, bai, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, Coors Light, Corona, Robert Mondavi, Captain Morgan, Charles Smith Wines, Chipotle, Coola, Don Julio, Health-Ade Kombucha, Cold Brew High Brew Coffee, Larabar, Modelo, Maui Jim, Saint Archer, Sambazon, Voss and so many others.
This writer thoroughly enjoyed spending time specifically at the Odwalla and Blue Moon areas. While incredibly different brands, both offered fun photo-ops complete with a backdrop and props.
Blue Moon
Blue Moon Brewing Company was a major sponsor of the festival. They had an incredible Blue Moon Grove Getaway onsite. Throughout the weekend, festival-goers enjoyed the lush tropical shady escape, relaxing under the shade of massive Valencia orange trees. and sipping one Blue Moon of course. In addition to their flagship beer, Blue Moon Belgian White and fan-favorite Mango Wheat, they also had a specialty Kaabrew pour, Tangerillo IPA – all the way from our brewery in RiNo.
ODWALLA
Traveling nationwide, Odwalla’s Road to Our Roots tour, is an interactive VW van experience that pays tribute to the brand’s origins and its latest partnerships with new creators that embody the pioneering juice brand’s unique spirit. Kicking off last month in New York City, the Road to Our Roots tour has made stops in Portland and Seattle at Bumbershoot Festival, and will be traveling across Los Angeles,
San Diego, San Francisco, and Atlanta this fall.
Selling out this year’s KAABOO Del Mar is an exciting way to embark into our inaugural expansions with KAABOO Cayman and KAABOO Texas.
