Pop Newcomer HAVEN Opens Up About Her Debut Music, Having Support From Radio Disney and More!

Meet the pop singer Haven! While fresh to the pop music scene, she has been touring the nation since age 15 with major country acts Thomas Rhett, Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith and Hunter Hayes.
Haven recently launched her pop career with the recent release of “Swimming In Your Feelings” which was in regular rotation on iHeart Radio and Radio Disney. Her latest single “Be With You” will be out later this month.
Check out “Swimming In Your Feelings” here-
Haven is nothing short of a pop powerhouse. Her young career kicked off by writing country tunes in the heart of country music, Nashville. Growing up in the 1,600-person town of Moville, Iowa, Haven decided to head to ‘music city’ at age 12 – where her singing and songwriting talents were quickly recognized.
While touring the nation, Haven was exposed to the realm of pop music for the first time since leaving her small-town roots and ultimately fell in love with the genre. Instantly recognizing her talent, manager Brian Teefey (LH7 Management / Selena Gomez’s step-dad), signed her and began to help guide Haven who has set out to re-define pop with her own artistic flare.
Her musical roots stem from a darker time in her life, where music became Haven’s source of light and healing. At 10 years old, she fell ill to an, at the time, unknown disease by doctors. While confined to her hospital bed, Haven picked up a guitar and began writing songs to pass the time. After a year of traveling from one hospital to the next, all the while developing her songwriting abilities, she was diagnosed with POTS Syndrome and immediately began treatment. While her illness came to an end, her love of creating music was just getting started.
Today, Haven’s philanthropic pursuits surround aiding research and recovery efforts for childhood cancer, such as Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. She is additionally passionate about supporting charitable efforts that benefit research of the neurological and physiological effects of music as a method of healing. Haven hopes to utilize both her music and her voice as a source of light in the world.

Happy New Year! When it comes to your music, what are you most excited about for 2020?
Aw thank you! I’m most excited to finally be releasing music in 2020!! I’ve been writing for a long time and 2020 is the year to start sharing everything I’ve been working on with the world. So ,I’m super excited about that!
Can you recall the moment when you thought you could be a musician? What do you think motivated you day in and day out?
I always loved music, but the moment I was inspired to pursue music was during my first concert. My mom took me to see Shania Twain when I was 4 and I looked at my mom and said “I want to do that”. Even though I was young, I still remember the excitement and how badly I wanted to be on that stage. I think what motivates me now is my love for music, my team, and my family.
How do you think your hometown has influenced the kind of music that you make? If not, why is that?
I think my hometown definitely influences my music. I grew up in a farm town of 1,600 people. So, going from Moville, Iowa to Los Angeles was a major change. It has inspired a lot of the songs I’ve written and how I write. I’m writing from a perspective of so many things being new to me. There’s a lot more to the world that I didn’t even know existed until I started traveling and doing music. I definitely pull inspiration from that.
Growing up, how important was music in your life? Was your family and friends supportive of this career choice?
Growing up I always loved music, but my family is actually a very sports oriented family so most of my childhood was focused on athletics. However, I was always singing and writing even though everyone around me was focused on sports. Music was always in me. Thankfully, my family has been insanely supportive and I couldn’t ask for a more encouraging family to be honest. They’ve sacrificed so much for me to be pursuing my dream and there are no words to describe my gratitude for that. They are the biggest blessing.
If you weren’t a musician today, what else could you see yourself doing?
Music is my everything, but if it didn’t exist I could see myself being a teacher. I love kids and my parents were both teachers so I think I have that bug as well.
What has been the biggest surprise so far about making music your career? What has been an unexpected or welcome challenge to it all? What has been the best part about it all?
I think the biggest surprise so far has been the business side of it. When I was younger, I always thought music just existed but there’s so much going on behind the scenes. I think the unexpected or welcoming challenge is staying inspired. When you’re creating every day, sometimes I’ll think “what if I run out of melodies or ideas?” but thankfully I never do. It’s been fun to challenge myself creatively. I think the best part is that I get to do what I love every day and I will never take that for granted!
Let’s talk about your newest singles. What was the inspiration for your latest single, “Swimming In Your Feelings”? And what about your soon-to-be released track, “Be With You”?
I wrote “Swimming In Your Feelings” about a year ago, it was when I first started making trips to LA. Long story short…I dated an LA boy, we broke up and I wrote a song about it. I feel like most of us have felt like we’re swimming in somebody’s feelings at some point. Even though it’s technically a breakup song, I wanted it to still feel like a jam and not just another sad song. So, I hope y’all turn it up and enjoy it! 🙂
My next single “Be With You” is releasing FEB 14th and I am SO EXCITED!! I actually was in the studio with my producer and we had already written 2 songs that day. We had like 30mins left in the session & he pulled up a beat & we wrote it in like 20 minutes. It felt like it fell from the sky.
Do you have plans to release more new music soon and a full of collection of new songs?
Yes! Starting FEB 14th, I will be releasing a single every 6 weeks! Lots of new music on the way in 2020! 🙂
I’d love to know what it was like touring at just 15 with so many incredible country artists?
It was incredible! I am so thankful to have had those opportunities at such a young age. It has made me so grateful because I know how hard it is to get the opportunity to play those types of shows. I’m just very thankful.
What did you learn from that experience?
I learned how to work hard and that the only way to be able to do what you love every day is to keep working hard. I was doing around 100 dates a year at that time. I loved it!
What has it been like getting so much support from Radio Disney and iHeart?
NO WORDS. Radio Disney and iHeartRadio have been so supportive of me and I am so so thankful to have their support! I grew up watching and loving Disney, so to hear my song on Radio Disney was super exciting for me!
Do you have any tour dates scheduled for this year yet?
Not yet, but hopefully soon! Would love to start touring again! I love performing!
How do you think you have grown as a musician since you first started making music?
I think I’ve grown a lot musically and I’ve learned to not box myself in. Once I stopped trying to fit into a certain genre and just started making the music that made me happy, things started falling into place.
What if anything has stayed the same about your music-making process?
I think the one thing that’s stayed the same is that it’s never the same lol. It’s different every time. Sometimes I start with an idea or sometimes it’s a melody or track. It just really depends how I’m feeling.

How do you feel about social media? What do you think social media has done for your career so far?
I think social media if used in the right ways is a great source for artists to get their music out and reach people they may have never been able to reach before. I love connecting with and meeting new people. It’s given me an outlet to connect and also support other people and artists on their journey.
What musicians would you absolutely love to work with in the future?
My dream collabs would be Julia Michaels, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes & Ed Sheeran!
If you could design your dream music video right now, what would it look like?
I feel like this answer could get super long, but I’ll try to keep it short lol! It would depend on the song but I would say in a dream world lots of different outfit changes, dancers, fire, paint, confetti just all the things haha!
Where would you love to hear a song of yours played?
I would love to hear my song played in a stadium!
At the end of the day, what do you hope people take away from your music?
I hope my music makes people feel emotions. Happy, sad whatever they’re going through. I hope I have a song they can relate to and my music can help them through good days and bad.
