ELIZA & THE DELUSIONALS And SILVERSUN PICKUPS Bring Their Tunes To LA’s Wiltern!

On Friday, February 7th, LA’s Wiltern Theatre welcomed newcomer band Eliza & The Delusionals and well-known alt-rock favorite Silversun Pickups.
Eliza & The Delusionals, playing as a 5 piece (on this tour) are a garage-rock band out of Australia. With both a heavy 3 guitar sound but also female vocalist added a bit of a Mazzy Star quality to it. The band is embarking on its first American tour, in support of Silversun Pickups, a band they were fans of as teens in the Gold Coast of Australia. It was also their first time in Los Angeles and they received a very warm welcome.

Eliza Klatt, speaking for the band, seemed genuinely ecstatic to be performing in America. The crowd was largely full and very attentive as they played for nearly 45 minutes, receiving rousing applause after each song. They entertained the packed venue with their tracks, “Swimming Pool,” “Jackie,” “Feel It All” and their current hit single “Just Exist.” Their songs were somewhat reminiscent of the California band, Best Coast, but with a larger band sound providing a fuller melody. They definitely impressed as a relatively new band, certainly to the audience at The Wiltern.
After this February west coast run supporting the Silversun Pickups, the band will play SXSW, and then they will head out on the road again supporting beabadoobee on select dates in March/April (all tour dates below).

Shortly after Eliza & The Delusionals wrapped up, Silversun Pickups took the stage. This was their first time ever headlining at the Wiltern. Singer and guitarist Brian Aubert seemed to be in awe of the crowd and how far the band has come since forming in 2000. He remarked, “If you’d have told me that in 20 years, we’d be playing The Wiltern, I’d have said you were f*cking crazy. Well, we’re all f*cking crazy here tonight.” The band traversed its 5 albums as it played for almost 2 full hours, including the encore, ending as they often do with “Lazy Eye” off of their first album, Carnavas.
