Sydney Sierota is so cool; it’s ironic as hell, but it’s so true. The Sierota siblings–Sydney, Jamie, Noah, and Graham–are Echosmith, the hottest pop-rock act on the scene. The band’s meteoric rise is nothing short of amazing.
In 2013 Echosmith was included in Alternative Press‘s “100 Bands You Need to Know,” gave their EP away to fans for free, had music featured on ESPN, covered all of Warped Tour, and released their debut album Talking Dreams. On New Year’s Eve the band capped off the year by playing a song called “Cool Kids” on Teen Nick’s New Year’s Eve Countdown.
From that moment, the sky was the limit. 2014 saw the band on everyone’s lips and lists. “Cool Kids” reached #13 on Billboard’s Hot 100 List, and their album was certified platinum–as over 1 million in album sales, in a decade where album sales are at an all-time low due to streaming, iTunes, and other listening methods. Echosmith covered all stops of 2014’s Warped Tour, First Things First Tour with Neon Trees, and the Honda Civic Tour with American Authors. Somewhere in between, the band found time for TV–performing on, not watching–“The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Conan,” “The Today Show,” and “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” and many more. Oh, and Sydney got to introduce rock legend Joan Jett at an awards show.
All of this is very, very cool–but what makes the Sierotas really cool isn’t the success of Echosmith, but the fact that Echosmith’s success has not gone to these kids heads (Sydney is 17; Graham is 15; Noah is 19; Jamie is 21.) These kids are grounded, sweet, and humble. Chaperoned by their mother, who is as beautiful as she is lovely, all members of Echosmith are nothing if not grateful for the progress their band has made so far.
The sky is the limit for Echosmith in 2015, who are already booked to tour the US on their first headlining tour February and March with The Colourist, then head to Europe for April and May.
