When it’s set up for UCLA football games, the Pasadena venue and largest one in Los Angeles County, The Rose Bowl, can fit up to 90,888 people. It certainly felt like they were all there at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s OTR II stadium tour this past weekend. This second co-headlining tour by The Carters began on June 6th in UK and wraps in Vancouver on October 2nd.

Presented by Live Nation Global Touring in association with Parkwood Entertainment and Roc Nation, the weekend LA shows proved to be just as outstanding and entertaining as their previous summer 2014 OTR I tour. From beginning to the very end, Beyoncé and Jay-Z proved what a powerful music couple they truly are in
today’s world.
The show on Sunday (September 23rd) began with a rousing set by Chloe x Halle and then DJ Khaled. The latter welcomed Elle Mai, YG and Fat Joe to join him for songs as well.
Throughout the two-and-a-half hour show, there was an air of “real love” between the two artists which makes sense since they released their “Everything Is Love” (Sony Music Entertainment and Roc Nation) album just this summer. There were several moments during the jam-packed set when the pair would just stand and face each other. They also shared intimate and beautifully lush videos on the screen in between songs of the entire family. Some appeared more like home movies that the pair made themselves while others were much more carefully created.
When it wasn’t about love, it was about the hits and entertaining the mighty audience. Between the numerous outfit changes, Beyoncé and Jay-Z danced their way around the stage and across two parallel runways that jutted out from the main center stage. Impressively, in the second half of the show, the main platform even moved along the two runways and over the audience that was sitting there. There was also a full band complete with a string and horn section and amazing dancers that filled the wall on the stage as well.
The Carters know their audience and performed all their greatest hits for the sold out crowd. Roughly 40 or so of them were heard!
A big highlight of the show was hearing the fun mash-ups of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s songs. Beyoncé‘s “Diva” and “Flawless” were mashed with Jay-Z’s “Clique” and “Fuckwithmeyouknowigotit” respectively. After these tracks, the two took turns performing solo. The classics “Naughty Girl,” “Big Pimpin’,” “Run This Town,” “Baby Boy” and “Countdown” were played. Then finally half-way through the show, they performed “Black Effect” together
which is on The Carter’s newest album. The quietest moment of the night was during Beyoncé‘s gorgeous performance of “Resentment.” She sat at the very far end of one of the runways and belted out this number. The show winded down with the two on stage performing “Young Forever,” followed by Beyoncé singing her Ed Sheeran duet, “Perfect” and lovingly gazing at her husband. “Apeshit” was the final song of the night.
Between the beloved hits, the large band, the beautiful dancers and the iconic duo, it made for an incredibly electrifying and compelling concert.
