Back In Business With Birthday Themed Music
It’s been a birthday kinda week for us at Clizbeats. After taking time to handle some personal affairs behind the scenes, the calendar kept moving like it always does, and soon enough it was October 18th. For those of you that dont know, the 18th is our shared birthday. Well oddly enough, our Birthday week saw the leak of a new Katy Perry Prism album cut called “Birthday Song.” Naturally, when we heard the news of the leak, we were chasing it, trying to find a clip like every other music blogger. To Capitol’s credit, other than some muffled copies made from speaker to speaker-audio bleed over, the copies were hard to come by. With that said, it was one of more than one Bday related coincidence music news happening in this one week.
The second of them came from Eminem. On Monday, Mr. Mathers released the 3rd single from his Marshall Mathers LP 2 to VEVO. The track was called “Rap God.” In short is an aggressive mix of taunting and hammering of genuine MC skills upon those of the younger generation of Hip Hop. Some rough language aside, the song is a true declaration his stand out ability, despite being older. It came just in time too. He turned 41 on Thursday.
To commemorate the occasion for both him, and us we drafted a post dedicated to musicians born on the 18th, and included him as a bonus. In addition to introducing “Rap God”, the post includes music and facts about Chuck Berry, The Doobie Brothers, and Ne-Yo.
We thought it would be good fun. Check it out here
