Sharpe Family Singers are TikTok’s modern day answer to The Partridge Family. Known as “the Broadway Family” to their loyal fans, they provide feel-good, wholesome content and are a ray of sunshine at a much needed time. With coronavirus shutdowns across the nation, they took to TikTok in February 2020 as a family bonding experience.
Comprised of Ron (dad), Barbra (Mom), and siblings Samantha, Logan, and twins Aidan and Connor, the Sharpe Family Singers are rising to stardom with their original, witty, and creative musical content on TikTok. Since starting their channel the family has amassed more than 2.8 million followers and 46.5 million likes with more than 300 million views of their fun, family-friendly videos. Instagram has also been a popular avenue for the family, with more than 30 million views. The Sharpe Family Singers began their professional musical journey in 2014 touring globally, performing a combination of popular music and well-known theatrical numbers.

Thanks for your time! Given everything that is going on in the world today, how are you staying sane and continuing on with your music?
Thank you so much for letting us share our story with All Access!
Yes, it has been really hard not to be able to perform onstage these past 7 months and of course we really don’t know when this will change.
We have tried to use the time to stay creative and find how our stage show can evolve musically. TikTok and other social media platforms have really helped us work on gaining a following for our musical family!
We are lucky to be all together so we have continued to make music and have fun as a family!
How has this pandemic changed your day to day life? Is your city in starting to open up more now? Have you been able to get out much?
We live on the east coast of the USA, so this area was the first hit by the virus. Things are much better now and yes we have been outdoor dining once!
I think many families who were already close like ours even became much closer. For us it has been a very creative time and we have used this time to bond even more, including musically
What is it like being in a group made up of all family? What is the best part? What is the most challenging part?
I think the best part is that we all are so close and know each so well it is easy to be unconditionally supportive of each other!
We are a family that works well together and most importantly takes care of each other.
What is the most challenging part?
Sometimes it’s hard to get our schedules together and filming will get pushed back, and moved around. All of us know each other’s strengths and weaknesses so we are good at avoiding putting someone on the spot. We often start creating a video with one story in mind and then we will decide during recording that there is a better or funnier idea. The singing is always the easiest part 😉
Tell me how you all first decided to join Tik Tok in February and start this group? What initially gave you the idea to do it?
We already had our family singing group and knew a lot of songs. TikTok was all our older kids, Logan and Samantha’s idea! The rest of us were just going along for the ride! As parents, we just liked the fact that our kids would want to be seen online with us! That was enough for mom and dad to join in on the fun!
What have you thought about Tik Tok so far?
When we started out we really did not understand the potential large audience that was available on TikTok. Creating singing videos seemed like a novel idea as we were already performing musically on stage. I think what we learned quickly was that TikTok users did not want to see a polished performance. The average viewer just wants to see you being yourself, sharing your talents.
The most amazing aspect of TikTok is how you can release a video in one part of the world and within seconds someone on the other side of the world can view the video and then create their own video using your video and sound! It is unbelievable how TikTok connects everyone everywhere. We are so inspired to have many new friends and fans we could have never reached without this opportunity!
How do you set yourselves apart from anyone on the platform?
We set ourselves apart by having a dog and large number of people “six of us” who are all trying to fit into a 3 inch cell phone screen at the same time. Lol
Because of our age range with young identical twin boys, an older teen boy and girl, a cute dog, and young at heart parents, it is quite a diverse group! We all have big voices and love to sing our best.
Most people write us and say they love our family, because we look like we are having fun, and they enjoy our voices.
With six singers you never know what kind of video we will put out next because we have so many options. We always try to share great singing with humor to be unique and entertaining.
Were you surprised at all by all of the attention and rise in followers?
Yes, we really could not believe how this all happened! There are so many talented people out there and we worked hard to get noticed. It is unbelievable that we have over 4 million social media followers in less than 7 months. We are so lucky and hope we can continue to grow online!
How do you go about deciding what songs to cover?
It really varies all the time! Sometimes we will perform a trending song, and sometimes we perform a vocally difficult song as a family challenge. Other times we will try to create a beautiful harmony or take a song and make a short musical video story. Each type of video we create has its rewards and we are often surprised by which video will get the most views!
And what about deciding how the video will look?
Samantha is usually the editor and chief! She usually calls the shots with filming. Samantha knows the right angles and lighting needed to make the film look its best!
Do you creatively decide the video concept together?
Yes we have meetings all the time and try to give everyone including the twins a chance to share their ideas! We always say there are no bad ideas. The ideas we use are mostly from Samantha, Logan and mom Barbra. The twins and dad Ron usually just show up and steal the show 😉
What has been a favorite song to cover? A favorite video to make?
There are so many that we have enjoyed. Some creators put out 4 videos a day and we usually put out only 4 videos a week.
One of our favorite videos is called “Sophia the First, a Pie in the Face.” There have been over 3.2 million individuals who have made a video with this music and we currently have over 33 million views, which is the most.
We have performed so many great covers and one of our favorite is “Bohemian Quarantine” where we changed the lyrics. We also really love all of our Disney music videos too!
Do you have plans to release original music?
Yes we have a Holiday / Christmas album coming out this fall with many of the fun classics everyone loves along with two original songs.
We also have a second album we are working on at the same time for release in the spring. The spring album has some really fun new music and we are having a great time creating the Sharpe Family sound.
Are any of you interested in writing songs?
Yes, we all are very creative and have written songs in the past. Now that we have a potential audience to support our own music we will be working hard to bring this forward. We have so many options when recording our new material that we hope this will really help us create music that is special and entertaining.
Since we are all desperately missing live music, what has been a favorite show of yours from the past and a favorite show that you attended?
Barbra, Samantha, and Logan went to see Celine Dion who is one of their idols. We all went to see the Celtic Women and love their soothing sounds. We are all also huge fans of the acapella group the Pentatonix. We are a family that loves great harmony!!
What about some of your favorite venues from around the world?
Wow there have been so many great places we have had the chance to perform. The Pantages Theater in LA is so historic, The Kallang Theater in Singapore was acoustically well designed, The National Concert Hall in Dublin is beautiful, The Majestic Theater in San Antonio has an amazing star filled sky, Radio City Music Hall in NYC is massive. Each of these theaters had a unique audience that makes it thrilling to perform there!
If you could get into the studio with absolutely any artist today, who would it be and why them?
There are so many! Samantha loves Celine Dion’s voice and we all would love to sing with her! Barbra’s favorite entertainer has always been Barry Manilow because we know he would be able to create a great melody for us all to sing. Logan really wants to harmonize with the Pentatonix. Ron has always loved the vocal quality of Bryan Adams and Michael Bolton! The twins’ favorite singers are Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra because their music inspired them to perform.
What artists have continued to inspire you two and the kind of music that you make?
Barry Manilow always creates amazing music that is uplifting and fun, The Carpenters just make you smile with such beautiful harmonies, and we have a real affinity for Queen! Melody and harmonies will always be our inspiration.
Is there anything else that you would like to share with our readers about yourself or your music?
We have a lot of fun creating our music and we hope that everyone will enjoy our songs! There is almost a new type of retro yet current feeling to the rhythm of some of what we are working on. Our music has to ultimately be about the melody and harmonies because that is what we enjoy doing best! The power and genetic blend of our voices is, hopefully, what will make our music most enjoyable.
We just released TheSharpeBox.com which is a new box that was created for us! We developed a musical singing game called “Sharpe or Flat” that is part of our box with 12 other items we love. We also hope you will listen to our Sharpe Family Holiday Album this fall!
