Lina Loi is a critically acclaimed American R&B and soul singer and songwriter. She was raised in Texas where her introduction to music started at the age of four when she began singing at church. After cultivating her gospel and jazz roots touring and performing with her mother, Lina was signed to Atlantic Records and immediately began her International tour with her debut album “Stranger On Earth”. Influenced by singers from Josephine Baker to Sarah Vaughan to Sade, Lina began developing a signature vocal style that could be described as a mixture of swing, r&b, and jazz meets modern day soul.

At a young age, you performed and toured with your mother. What was that experience like for you?
I was 4-8 when I toured with my mother it’s some of my best memories I was in awe watching her sing and naturally begin to model myself after her it was a special bond It was a special feeling.
Growing up, did you always want to be a performer? Can you imagine yourself doing anything else?
No It’s all I know… both my parents were musicians my grandmother and grandfather were also singers.
How would you describe your modern-soul music to someone who has never heard it before?
Vintage Soul or sometimes I use the term Retrospective music.
How do you think you have grown as an artist since your 2001 debut album, “Stranger On Earth”?
I’m more mature and conscious lyrically and I’m not afraid to try new things vocally. I take more risks.
Can you talk about the inspiration for your newest single “Dip”?
MOTOWN!!! I got a hold of some video footage of live Motown performances They were so amazing unparalleled.
What can you tell our readers about your recently released “Love Ride” EP?
I love the producer Regi Myrix couldn’t have pulled it off with out him. It’s fun and I’m sure it will put you in the mood to dance. With “Dip”, you may share my experience with “Love Ride” where you meet a new romantic interest and you decide to go for the ride and live in the moment. “Good Girl Gone” is my fav on the EP and the message is very clear! (Laughter) “Go Where The Love Is” a song dedicated to my fans. They love me and I love them so we are drawn to each other. “Undone” is produced by a team of 3 of my fav people- Eddie Mendez, Antonio Franco and Travis House. It has a gospel inspired message.
What artists have continued to inspire you through the years? Who would you love to work with one day?
Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Chaka Khan, Roberta Flack to name a few. I would love to work with John Legend!
What message do you hope listeners take away from your music?
I hope they learn to be grateful and to love each other.
