Get to know the Israeli alternative-pop-punk act called Bare Dreams. They just released their singles “Why Can’t I?”and “Last Night.” Later this month on May 25th, Bare Dreams will be putting out their debut EP called “Au Revoir.”
Bare Dreams was formed two years ago by Itay Aviv (Vocals\ Guitar) and Eldar Moshe (Drums). The group was originally formed as an acoustic duo. Roee Berezowitz (Guitar) And Itamar Hayut (Bass) joined the band a year later. The line up change enabled the group to recreate themeselves and their music and make their debut EP sound exactly how they imagined it.

Thanks for your time! Besides this interview, what else do you guys have on tap for today?
Thanks for having us! We are also working on our upcoming summer tour dates!
How has being from your hometown influenced this band and the kind of music that you make today?
Actually, we live in separate yet close towns that are all pretty quiet and small. Living in such area gave us the mindset of focusing on writing music without all the distractions and noise of living in the city. I guess we just grew up listening to this kind of music and it was the natural choice for us when we started writing.
How did you all meet and form this band? Can you remember the first moment where you thought you could be in this band together and make music?
Me (Itay) and Eldar are best friends since junior high school. We met Roee during high school and we instantly fell in love with him. Itamar joined the gang couple years later, he’s the funniest dude you’ll ever meet. The moment Eldar and I decided to form this band it was obvious to us that Itamar and Roee will be the perfect additions to this band. Since we are all best friends it was easy to see that we’ll get along perfectly making music as ‘Bare Dreams’.
Was it difficult coming up with your band name? What were some of the other names the you considered?
I came up with the name ‘Bare Dreams’ many years ago when I just started recording music in my home studio. I needed a name for the projects I created at that time and ‘Bare Dreams’ seemed right. I never imagined the name will stick around until this day.
Let’s talk about your newest track “Why Can’t I.” Where did the inspiration for this song come from? How do you think it prepares listeners for more music from you?
Most of the songs on ‘Au Revoir’ talk about the process of saying goodbye to someone you loved. ‘Why Can’t I?’ represents the part of the process when you blame yourself. I was mad at myself for not being able to accept the situation and the song pretty much wrote itself.
We released ‘Why Can’t I?’ first because it’s the heaviest and darkest song on the E.P. We wanted to make a “Grand Entrance”.
How excited are you to be releasing your debut EP next month? What was it like putting this collection together? Did anything surprise you about the overall process? Were there any unexpected challenges in the recording studio?
We are super excited about it. The process of writing, producing and recording it was very intense and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it.
We all came from a reach background of writing, performing & recording music with different bands so we didn’t have a lot of surprises during the process. This time we decided to take the recordings to the next step and did it all in the highest standards we could afford.
I know it’s difficult to pick but can you pick out a few of your favorite songs from this albums and talk about how they were written? How do you all generally go about writing your music?
Each member has his own favorite song-
Eldar- ‘Birthdays’
Itamar- ‘Eldar’s song’
Roee & Itay – ‘Between a bus and a hospital bed’.
Most of the time I (Itay) write the structure of the songs (Lyrics & Chords) and when I’m done shaping it, everyone else joins me in the studio for arrangement and production.
Do you have upcoming tour plans? Where can people see you perform live next?
Our next show will be the E.P launch show in Tmuna Theatre, TLV.
Also, we will be touring the UK this summer. tour dates announcement will be published real soon!
Where do you think you are all happiest- in the studio recording new music, on stage performing or elsewhere? Do you have any upcoming touring dates scheduled?
We are all big fans of performing live. there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the crowd going nuts during our set.
How do you think being a musician and in this band gives you all the most joy in life today? With everything going on in the world today, how do you think your music is a reflection of these times?
This band provides us an escape from our daily routine. we get to see each other almost every day for rehearsals, writing or just hanging out. It’s basically what we live for.
Who are you all listening to these days? What artists have continued to inspire you and your music? Who would you absolutely love to work with in the future?
Each member has his own influences. We come from different musical backgrounds, and I think that’s what makes this band sound different.
Working with Dan Lancaster (Producer) will be a dream coming true for us. Dan, if you read this feel free to hit us up!
What advice would you give to a young band just getting started today?
Do what you love. Invest everything in it and like the ‘Four Year Strong’ song says – ‘Rise or die trying’.
