The alternative rock band Knox Hamilton has released their latest single, “Cool.” It is distributed by the content marketing powerhouse Vydia. This much-anticipated release is the first from the Little Rock, Arkansas natives since their 2018 Beach Boy EP.
“Cool is a sort of reminder to focus on the people who love you for who you really are,” states Knox Hamilton front-man and lead singer Boots Copeland. “You’ll spend an entire lifetime trying to win the affection of people who don’t spend as much time thinking about you as you do them, but I hope it serves different purposes for each person who listens to it.”
“Cool” is streaming now and available on all major platforms: ffm.to/cool

Knox Hamilton (comprised of Boots, Cobo and their longtime buddy and talented guitarist Drew Buffington) doesn’t make songs by mistake. Rather, they work hard at their craft, stacking gorgeous vocals on top of relatable lyrics and restless melodies. Every note, every chord, every lyric is intentionally created to wrap your mind in a warm embrace while still setting your soul free to wander the cosmos.
The band’s first EP How’s Your Mind featured the single “Work It Out” which climbed to #1 on Sirius XM’s Alt Nation Top 18 and reached “near-Adele levels on alt-rock radio” (Huffington Post). Following the success of their EP, the band released their debut album The Heights where their single “Washed Up Together” climbed to the #12 spot on Sirius XM’s Alt Nation Top 18, garnering Know Hamilton the hard-earned respect of the indie rock community and over 7.9 million streams on Spotify.

Thanks for your time! What is on tap for the rest of your day?
We’ll be in the studio today working on our next single!
Now that we are into the 7th month of the year, how would you say that 2019 is treating the band so far? What have been some goals this group has had this year? How close are you to reaching them?
2019 has been spent working on new music. We’ve toured some, but we’re definitely focusing on new songs and music videos. We love touring, but the creative side of being a band is definitely our favorite part.
Can you recall the moment when you thought you could be in this group together? Was it hard to think of a name that you could agree on? Has anything surprised you about this musical journey so far?
We’ve been playing music together for so long that it’s actually harder to imagine not playing together. We’ve always been in Knox Hamilton, in someone shape or form.
How do you think your hometowns have influenced the sound and how you all carry yourselves in this group? If not, what do you think does influence this group?
Our families and friends have probably influenced our music more than our actual hometowns. We’ve always drawn musical influence from a lot of places. However, our families definitely help keep us centered.
I always like to ask bands if you all hang out socially apart from the music? In other words, when you aren’t working on music, do you guys enjoy hanging out for fun?
We all live a few blocks from each other, so we definitely hang out outside of making music.
Let’s talk about your newest single “Cool.” What was the inspiration for this track? How would you say that it compares to your previous 2018 EP, “Beach Boy”?
“Cool” is our attempt to let people know it’s ok to just be. No pressure to be anything you’re not, or don’t really want to be. “There’s no cool quite like your cool”
Do you have other songs ready to go on a future collection now? When can fans expect more music from this group?
We’re working on new songs right now. We plan to have another single ready to go by August.
Generally, how do you go about writing your music? Do you write together or separately?
We’ve really started writing all together, in the same place. It’s a harder process, but we’re big fans of collaboration.
Where do you think you are all happiest- in the studio recording new music, on stage performing or elsewhere?
We love working on new music, it’s always exciting. BUT playing songs live and watching a crowd, who took time out of their day and spent money, singing along is always amazing.
Where can fans see you perform next? What do you think makes for an ideal show for this group? What has been a favorite show of yours in the past?
We’re currently planning our next line of shows for this fall, so we’ll have dates to announce soon. Playing festivals is always awesome and we hope to be on the 2020 circuit!
How has social media impacted this band? How often are you all on your different sites interacting with fans?
We’ve learned over the last few years to just have fun with social media. There’s no sense in trying to be something you’re not, just for likes. It’s a great way to keep up with all the friends we make on the road and all the people who support us.
We are currently living through a very trying and politically charged time right now so I am curious to know how you all think being musicians and in this band still gives you the most joy in life today? Do you find that your music is an escape to all the current events?
There’s no way to really escape all the craziness, but we do hope to provide a little positivity and let people know it’s important to have fun. A lot of artists are good at channeling all the negativity into beautiful, thought provoking art, so we’ll leave that up to them. We’re just trying to spread some love.
What musicians have really been inspiring you since you first started making music?
We love The Killers, The Strokes, Phoenix and a lot of alternative bands who paved the way for us to do what we’re doing.
What do you hope is the message of your music? What do you hope people continue to take away from your songs?
We hope people feel the love we put into our music. That’s the message.
Is there anything else that you would like to share with our readers about this group?
We’re pretty into these new songs we’re writing and we hope y’all dig them, too!
