An Interview With Actor and Singer Extraordinaire, SAMUEL MANCINI!

Meet the actor and singer Samuel Mancini! Born and raised in Connecticut, he made his film debut starring in Love the Coopers with Olivia Wilde and Diane Keaton.

Samuel is currently promoting the release of his debut EP “Higher” whch released to the world in March of this year. It is already near 100,000 spins on Spotify in just a few weeks. This collection gives off a very summery vibe with its sunny, smooth vocals and warm electronic melody. In it, Mancini tell the story of love, loss and his road to fame.

Thanks for your time! So where does this interview find you today? Is there music playing in the background? If so, what is it? What’s a song you loving these days?

S: I’m hanging out in NYC drinking a smoothie. Yes, Playboi Carti’s Magnolia has been my song lately.

What’s a song you have been loving these days?

S: I’m loving this new song I’m working on that I can’t wait for everyone to hear. Working with a new producer out of Paris. It’s called “Part of Me.”

How is 2017 treating you so far?

S: 2017 has been amazing.

Did you approach the start of this year any differently then you did last year?

S: I’ve never been more focused on my career and where I see myself in the next ten years. I’m really focused on working hard.

What have been some of the highlights for you this year?

S: This year I released my first official EP. The response I got from it has been a huge highlight. I didn’t expect it. It’s been exciting to see people discover my music and actually like it.

I am curious to know how you balance your acting and music careers?

S:I just do. This is what I’ve wanted my entire life. I don’t take for granted the opportunities I’ve been given.

Do you think you prefer doing one over the other?

I prefer singing and performing on stage.

Have you been able to incorporate your music into anything that you have acted in yet?

S: Not yet but I cant wait for the time I can act and sing in a movie.

What was it like putting together your debut EP, “Higher”?

S: A lot of  fun. I truly enjoy the creative process. I like to keep it stress free when Im writing and recording. I don’t want to force anything.

Did anything surprise you about the whole process?

S: The process always ends up flowing the way it should. Its always surprising how much a song can change once you actually start recording it and making it a production.

What was the inspiration for the songs on your EP? Generally, how do you go about writing a song?

S: I was in a really good place when I wrote these songs. I was inspired by what I went through in the past mixed with what I want in the future. Sometimes I’ll just get a really cool lyric and melody in my head and then build around that.

What are your plans for this summer?

S: Writing and preparing for my album. Do some radio shows and getting myself ready for when I put out new music.

Where do you think you are happiest- on stage performing, recording music in the studio or elsewhere?

S: Performing and recording

What artists have continued to inspire you and your music?

S:Stevie Nicks, Drake, The Weeknd, Hillsong, Michael Jackson, Kendrick Lamar.

Who would you absolutely love to work with in the future?

S: I would love to work with James Fauntleroy, Shellback and Majid Jordan.

What advice would you give to a young person who is considering getting into this music career path?  

S: to be humble and never stop working on your craft. Because When you’re not practicing your competition is, and when you meet them you want to win.

At the end of the day, what do you hope your fans take away from your music? What do you hope is the message of your songs?

S: I want them to feel inspired and limitless. Higher is all about growth and appreciating the good things in your life.

Is there anything else that you would like to share with our readers about yourself or your music?

S: Stay determined. Its been a long road but I cant give up on what I’m passionate about. Which is more than just my music. It’s about giving back as well and I hope that reflects who I am as a person and through my music.
