Last Wednesday night the alternative group Night Riots performed a couple songs off their debut album, Howl at the Hollywood speakeasy, No Vacancy. The album was in fact just released TODAY via Sumerian Records! The six-song collection was produced by Eric Palmquist and written while they were on tour promoting their 2013 EP Young Lore.
So who is Night Riots? Well, they were formed off the central coast of California and the members include Nick Fotinakes (Guitar), Travis Hawley (Vocals), Matt DePauw (Guitar), Mikel Van Kranenburg (Bass) and Rico Rodriquez (Drums).
Among the attendees at the Night Riots listening party at No Vacancy were several scattered long-haired women dressed up like skeletons. I didn’t understand why until I returned home after the show and watched their video for “Contagious” which is full of them.
Night Riots – “Contagious”
“Contagious” has been climbing the Sirius XM Alt Nation’s Alt 18 Countdown for four weeks & counting and is currently in the Top 10. Along with “Contagious”, Night Riots music is fun and needless to say, very catchy! Their songs have strong leading melodies and are full of awesome guitar solos.
An interactive photo booth, delicious cocktails provided by Red Bull, walking skeletons and a talented band made for quite an enjoyable night and I look forward to hearing more from Night Riots!
