When “Point Break”, the highly anticipated remake of the 1991 film, hits screens on Christmas Day, the alternative-rock band, Dig The Kid hopes to catch a wave of success with its end title theme, “Still Breathing.”
The unsigned trio landed the spot through an open call via online artist platform ReverbNation. The call for songs drew more than 7,500 submissions, according to ReverbNation founder/CEO Mike Doernberg. The ReverbNation A&R staff curated the process, passing the top 100 candidates on to their partner in the campaign, Alcon Sleeping Giant Music Group, a LosAngeles-based company that serves as the music arm for Alcon Entertainment’s film and TV projects. Alcon is releasing the movie with partners Warner Bros. and Lionsgate.
Though Alcon Sleeping Giant co-CEO Michael Hodges felt the song Dig The Kid originally submitted to ReverbNation wasn’t right for the movie, he and co-producer Ken Caillat (Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours) heard something in the group that they knew they could work with.
Dig The Kid is a high-energy, 3 piece ensemble from the San Francisco Bay Area made up of singer-songwriter and guitarist Cory Todd, drummer and songwriter Lisa Mongelli and bassist Ian Lasater.
