It was a great weekend for music lovers. Why? This past Sunday was the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, and there is a ton to recap. First up, incase you missed anything, Clizbeats has the complete list of winners here.
As you may have already heard, even though he was on tour in Russia, the night belonged to Justin Timberlake. The pop superstar took home 7 Awards including Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist,Top R&B Album and Top Billboard 200 Album. JT turned heads when accepting his “top artist” award via video tape by saying that he wanted to “thank everybody on earth….except Donald sterling.” It’s a great clip. Click here to check it out.
Just as TMZ reported prior to the broadcast, R&B singer Robin Thicke used the ABC broadcast platform to plead to his estranged wife Paula Patton after their very public separation in February. As we previously reported Robin’s personal life and marriage has always served as the main influences for the music in his 6 album career. We explore the topic and highlight the performance at Clizbeats.com here. Check it out.
Perhaps the best thing to relive from Sunday’s show is the overwhelmingly realistic hologram of Michael Jackson. Announced as if he was still alive, the projected king of pop launched into a show stopping performance of “Slave To The Rhythm”, the latest to come from his posthumously released album, Xscape. This had people talking since the moment they saw it, and it isn’t hard to see why. We rewound the DVR twice just to marvel at the well-executed theatrics. If you’ve seen it, you probably know what we mean. If you haven’t, click here right now.
