A Look At The Many Delays Behind “Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse”
Mariah Carey got some sage advice from late night talk show vet David Letterman when she appeared on CBS’ The Late Show With David Letterman this past Wednesday. He said, “Tell em to go screw.”
This snarky reaction was for the unnamed marketing people at Mariah’s label. This is because her 14th album, which is now being called Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse is only just now in the in the mastering process, and has been delayed for a variety of reasons since at least 2012. Looking at it with an outsider’s perspective, there’s no wonder why they have their concerns. This album, which is currently being promoted around her new single,“You’re Mine (Eternal)” and its remix featuring Trey Songz, has had it’s share of false starts, with the album’s original single “Triumphant” failing to chart, and her need for personal time at different points, because of both pregnancy complications and a dislocated shoulder.
